SINGLE VINYARDS Stairways to Heaven
Our vineyards are located in the gently rolling hills of the March, the river that borders Slovakia. The soils consist of fertile calcareous loam and loess. The fog from the nearby river creates a very special microclimate and ensures rich vegetation.
![]() | The more than 30-year-old Pinot Blanc vines could not find better conditions than in Ollersdorf, more precisely in the Ried Reinthal. The area is located in a valley surrounded by hills and forms a perfect basin. This geographical location ensures that the vineyards are protected from cold northerly winds and that the heat remains stored in the vat. The soil in the Ried Reinthal consists of loess and calcareous sandstone. Occasionally, weathered shells, i.e. marine deposits, can also be found here. The wines from the Ried Reinthal are characterised by a chalky minerality and plenty of structure. The warmth, which lasts well into the evening due to the many hours of sunshine, creates the ideal conditions for a base wine that forms the basis for our great MAESTOSO Pinot Blanc sparkling wine with a pleasantly harmonious acidity. >> For further information see: riedenkarten.at/202155/reinthal |

![]() | In the single vinyard Viertel a layer of lime-rich black earth ensures high soil fertility, optimum water retention and chalky minerality. Grüner Veltliner in particular feels at home in this somewhat cooler location and reflects the high quality of this site. From ancient tradition, the Ried Viertel is said to be a ‘very safe’ location that can withstand both storms and frost events. Matthias' grandmother had already experienced this; during her lifetime there was no storm damage in the Ried Viertel. The wines from this vineyard are of outstanding quality and are characterised by their fresh, fruity aromas and fine minerality. >> For further information see: riedenkarten.at/202157/viertel |

![]() | Die Ried Voglsang lies to the north of Ollersdorf and to the south of a large wooded area. It was originally divided into three sub-locations: Haiden, Otterschleif and Gspöttern. The southern part is dominated by silty sands and sandstones, while the northern part is covered by loess or loess loam. The soils are rich in lime and alternate between black earth and loess soil. Sloping down towards the south-west, where the loess soil dominates, the cold winds also bring something cool and fresh. This is where Pinot Blanc feels most at home. On the plateau of the site is a very fertile black earth soil with a clearly noticeable clay content. Our young vines are planted right here in the upper part. With its high fertility and excellent water retention, the Vogelsang vineyard directly on the plateau and sloping down towards the north also offers the perfect soil characteristics for the Merlot and Blaufränkisch grape varieties (new plantings). >> For further information see: austrianvineyards.com/202158/voglsang |
